Moonshot AI's Kimi K3.1 Pro reaches fourth on Artificial Analysis index, 3 points behind Claude Opus 5.5
Summary
Moonshot AI released Kimi K3.1 Pro on October 24, 2026, along with a faster companion variant, K3.1 Pro Highspeed, which runs two to three times faster with identical capabilities. Both are available across the Kimi product family, including Kimi.ai, mobile apps for iOS, Android and HarmonyOS, the Kimi Work desktop app, Kimi Code and the Kimi API, with Zero Data Retention available for API customers and enterprise access off by default at launch. The model scored 55 points on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, placing fourth behind Claude Opus 5.5 (58), Claude Sonnet 5.5 (56) and Muse Wonder Full (56), an 11-point gain over its predecessor Kimi K3. Moonshot plans to release the full model weights by November 4, 2026, which would make K3.1 Pro the highest-scoring open-weights model available and narrow the open-proprietary gap on the index to 3 points. Built with substantially larger post-training compute, K3.1 Pro keeps 2.8 trillion total parameters with 104 billion active, a 1-million-token context window and text and image support. It scored 65.7 percent on Terminal-Bench 4.0, was evaluated on other benchmarks, and reportedly outperforms GPT6 in programming agent evaluations while showing gains in agentic tasks, coding, 3D modeling and finance. API prices dropped 33 percent compared with Kimi K3.
