Intel signs on to Elon Musk’s Terafab chips project

Intel has announced its participation in the Terafab project, a collaboration between Elon Musk's SpaceX and Tesla aimed at building a new semiconductor factory in Texas. The initiative seeks to produce 1 TW/year of compute capacity to power advancements in AI, robotics, satellites, and autonomous vehicles.

While the specific scope of Intel's contribution remains undisclosed, its involvement addresses concerns regarding the technical expertise required to manage such a massive and expensive infrastructure project. For Intel, this partnership provides critical anchor customers for its foundry business, helping it compete against rivals like Nvidia and AMD.
