Intel will help build Elon Musk’s Terafab AI chip factory

Intel has announced it will partner with Elon Musk to design and build his Terafab AI chip factory in Austin, Texas. This facility will produce AI chips for Musk's companies, SpaceX and Tesla, to power his ambitions in areas like self-driving cars, humanoid robots, and space-based data centers. The collaboration with Intel alleviates pressure on Musk, who has expressed concerns about the difficulty and cost of building such a complex fabrication plant himself. Intel, which is also investing heavily in its own US fab expansion, stated its expertise in designing, fabricating, and packaging high-performance chips will accelerate Terafab's goal of producing 1 TW/year of compute for AI and robotics advancements.
