Apple will reportedly allow other AI chatbots to plug into Siri

Apple's upcoming iOS 27 update is reportedly set to introduce a new feature called 'Extensions' that will allow users to choose which AI chatbot powers Siri's responses. This means third-party chatbots available on the App Store, such as Google's Gemini or Anthropic's Claude, could fetch replies for Siri, similar to the existing integration with OpenAI's ChatGPT. Users will reportedly have the ability to enable or disable these connections across iPhone, iPad, and Mac. This integration is also expected to work with a standalone app Apple is planning for its AI-upgraded Siri, which aims to perform actions across different applications. This development follows reports that Apple is working with Google to power its overhauled Siri, potentially using Gemini to train smaller AI models. Apple is anticipated to unveil these new operating system versions at its Worldwide Developers Conference starting June 8th.
