Make the switch: Bring your AI memories and chat history to Gemini

Google is simplifying the transition to Gemini by introducing new tools that allow users to import their memories, preferences, and full chat history from other AI applications directly into Gemini. The memory import feature requires users to copy a suggested prompt into their current AI app, paste the resulting summary of preferences back into Gemini's settings, allowing the assistant to quickly learn key personal facts. Additionally, users can now upload a ZIP file of their chat history from other providers to seamlessly continue past conversations. To reflect its enhanced conversational recall, Gemini is also renaming its "past chats" feature to "memory." These import options are rolling out now in the Settings page for consumer accounts, excluding Business, Enterprise, U18, and EEA/UK/CH users.
