AI tech designed to end video game leaks for good uses watermarks hidden "in plain sight"

EchoMark, led by CEO Troy Batterberry, previewed new AI-powered watermarking technology at GDC designed to prevent video game leaks using steganography. This technique hides unique identification marks, or "fingerprints," within documents by making minute, unnoticeable adjustments to line spacing or sentence structure, creating potentially trillions of unique versions for each recipient. If information is leaked, the AI can trace the specific employee whose copy was shared. Additionally, the technology includes an "alpha blend" feature that overlays a nearly invisible, semi-transparent watermark on screens, which a neural network can use to trace screenshots or photos back to the source of the leak, serving as an in-house surveillance deterrent against insider leaks.
