ByteDance reportedly pauses global launch of its Seedance 2.0 video generator

ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, has reportedly delayed the planned mid-March global launch of its new AI video generator, Seedance 2.0. The model was previously launched in China in February, where generated clips, such as one featuring Tom Cruise fighting Brad Pitt, quickly gained viral attention and drew significant backlash from Hollywood. Studios, including Disney, sent cease-and-desist letters, with Disney accusing ByteDance of a "virtual smash-and-grab of Disney’s IP." In response to these legal challenges and intellectual property concerns, ByteDance is now delaying the international rollout while its engineers and legal teams work to implement stronger safeguards.
