These potential cuts are suggested as a measure to offset the company's substantial spending on AI infrastructure, acquisitions, and hiring. Meta employed almost 79,000 people as of the end of December. While a company spokesperson called the report "speculative reporting about theoretical approaches," this news follows a trend of tech companies announcing layoffs, often citing AI automation.
