Google is introducing an early preview of a beta feature in the Gemini app for Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, and Samsung Galaxy S26 series phones, initially launching in the U.S. and Korea. This feature allows users to offload multi-step daily tasks, such as booking a ride or reordering a meal on DoorDash, by long-pressing the power button and issuing a command to Gemini. Gemini works seamlessly in the background while the user continues using their phone. The feature prioritizes safety and privacy through user control (tasks start and stop on command), transparency (live progress monitoring via notifications), and restricted access (automation runs in a secure, virtual window, limiting Gemini's access only to necessary apps). Initially, this automation will support select apps in the food, grocery, and rideshare categories.
