OpenClaw founder Peter Steinberger is joining OpenAI

Sam Altman announced that Peter Steinberger, the creator of the AI agent platform OpenClaw, is joining OpenAI. Altman highlighted Steinberger's expertise in enabling AI agents to interact, stating that multi-agent capabilities will soon be central to OpenAI's product offerings. Steinberger explained that joining OpenAI is the fastest path to achieving his goal of bringing AI agents to the masses, as he prefers building over running a company. He noted that he has already dedicated 13 years to building a company and now wants to focus on world-changing development. OpenAI gains a high-profile hire following departures and rivalry issues, though financial details of the deal remain private. Crucially, OpenClaw will continue to exist as an open-source project supported by a foundation funded by OpenAI.
